There are Several Types of Pallet Racking Systems and Configurations That Need to be Considered Before Implementation

In order to maximize available storage space in a particular facility, business savvy owners will utilize a specific pallet racking system, which, in essence, is a handling system for all types of materials. There are several types of pallet racking systems and configurations that need to be considered before implementation. This will ensure you are utilizing the best possible racking system for your facility.pallet raking systems

The most commonly used pallet system is selective racks. In this system, pallets are attainable from the warehouse aisle. This type of system can be used in conventional aisle, narrow aisle or very narrow aisle configurations.

Flow racks, also known as gravity flow racks, are ideal for high-density storage. Basically, products are stored at the higher end and removed at a lower point. Due to the flow of the racks, rotation becomes automatic.

Push back racking systems, can be built from roll formed or structural channel, are ideal for bulk storage as they hold the capability to store products that occupy several pallets.

Drive-through and drive-in racking systems are ideal for low-turnover items that need to be stored. Typically, this type of racking system employs a first in last out process (FILO). Both of these systems operate in floor to ceiling type of  structures.

When selecting the best system for your operations, there are a few thing to take under consideration. First, you need to determine which is best for the products you are going to store. Then you need to look into how to best incorporate a particular system in the available space in your warehouse. If storing food items, FDA regulations may apply. If you have questions or concerns about choosing a racking system, feel free to contact us.
