The world’s largest industrial automation company built a state-of-the-art distribution center and within 8 years reached production and order fulfillment capacity. Growth and technology had surpassed aggressive estimates, causing storage and pick faces to quickly become outdated and over capacity. This limited their ability for higher order fulfillment throughput.
A complete redesign of the facility and order fulfillment system was required. The modern solution included a high-speed order fulfillment system, three-level pick module including 8 pick zones. Secondary systems including conveyor, carton flow, trash systems and storage rack were critical pieces of the complete redesign. All new systems were integrated with a controls system.
The space was optimized to accommodate 25,000 SKUs, over 7,000 pick-faces and order fulfillment speeds up to 210 FPM. Performance can also be programmed for higher speeds to accommodate future growth.
