- Make a plan. It might seem easy enough to set up pallet racks, but going into the process without a plan will result in a lot more work for you in the long run. Our CAD team can create a floorplan of your warehouse with your new and existing equipment in place to create the most efficient space possible. This shows you exactly where everything should go, where it all fits, and prevents you from having to backtrack on setting up your new pallet racks.
- Buy quality pallet racking. There are tons of options for pallet racks out there, but they aren’t all made the same. Trying to save a few pennies on a cheaper pallet racking system can end up in disaster. Not only will you be facing repairs on your equipment more often, it will be much more difficult to set up. Quality pallet racking will make the setup process so much easier and well worth the investment in the long run.
- Prepare your space. Your pallet racking system should be one of the last things to go into your warehouse before your inventory. If you are setting up in a new build, make sure everything else is done to the space, including your fire safety system installed, heating and air conditioning set up, etc. That way your pallet racks won’t be in the way of other system and need to be moved. If you are setting up in an existing space, take the opportunity to clean your floor and the area around where the pallet racking will be setup.
