What Is a Chain Conveyor?

Chain conveyor systems, also called drag chain conveyors, have two to three or more strands of heavy-duty roller chain that move pallets or other very heavy or awkward items down the line. This type of conveyor system can also be used to solve problems for smaller items that won’t transport as well on rollers, such as food that needs to move through an oven.

They can also be integrated into an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) to move products from one area to another and used in production lines to speed up the manufacturing process.

Chain conveyors are highly durable and offer a cost-effective solution for material handling. If they require repair, service is generally a straightforward process that can be handled by a maintenance crew.
