A Global Manufacturer of Cleaning Products

Problem

Lost space & inefficient throughput due to production line expansion

Solution

High-density Storage & Optimized Material Flow Plan

Problem

A global manufacturer of cleaning products expanded the production line at their Midwest distribution center, losing valuable space throughout the facility. With such an influx of product, their current throughput was no longer efficient.

Solution

To increase space in the warehouse, we took advantage of the airspace above the floor and created a high-density FIFO drive-through storage system to fulfill the customer's product capacity needs. To increase throughput and cut down on forklift traffic, we reevaluated the material flow, both ways, between the warehouse floor and the dock doors and installed a pallet flow system near the dock doors.

Results

The pallet flow system resulted in decreased forklift traverse time, and the drive-through rack system resulted in a storage density increase of over 40%. Overall throughput speed and precision has increased.
